Volleyball Grabs Outright Conference Title

The Southwestern Michigan College Volleyball team swept Kellogg in Battle Creek on Friday 25-20, 25-16, 25-21 and are the outright 2025 Western Conference Champions.  "I know I say that every match is a total team effort, but tonight was the epitome of that statement," said Head Coach Jenny Nate. "After finally getting two starters back from injuries last week, at the start of the second set, Meah Evans, one of our six rotation setters and attackers went down when a Kellogg player stepped on her foot under the net.  Instead of panicking, we immediately had Sophia (Bachman) sub back in to run a 5-1 setting, put in Ella (Norwood) at right side, and Natalie Bachinski stepped in on defense.  We focused in, beat them 25-16 that set, and turned around and used the same lineup to win the third set.  This is why this team is number one: they have given 100% day in and day out since the second the season started; they are unselfish, play for each other, and rally around in each other in stressful situations - and they once again turned a chaotic event into a great story to win the outright conference championship.  It is great timing for a weekend off so that they can all rest, recover, and prepare to finish the conference season strong next week at home against Glen Oaks followed by the MCCAA tourney next Saturday."

The Roadrunners are now 10-1 in conference play and 25-6 overall.
