Volleyball Sweeps Marian Ancilla
SMC Volleyball returned to the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse and to their winning ways on Tuesday with a sweep of the visiting Marian Ancilla Chargers in a total team effort 25-21, 25-15, and 25-20.
"We had a great practice yesterday, and the team knows the importance of putting all of our focus only on the match in front of us, and we did exactly that tonight," said Head Coach Jenny Nate. "We were also able to achieve the sweep with our entire team playing except for our current injured players. Our goal is balanced scoring and a multitude of offensive shots. I was really pleased with that tonight as well as playing much cleaner ball and having fewer errors. This was a great win, but we will be studying film late tonight and back to work tomorrow in the gym preparing to take on Lansing Thursday."
The team also honored sophomore Cadence Knight, who crossed the 1,000 career digs mark over the weekend in Grand Rapids. Knight is the SMC career digs leader – she had 548 digs her freshman year and 495 so far this year for a total of 1,033 digs coming into tonight's match…and will add to that for the rest of the season.
The Roadrunners are now 16-9 overall and 5-2 in the MCCAA Western Conference, currently holding sole possession of second place.
