SMC Volleyball Falls to LMC Red Hawks
The Southwestern Michigan College volleyball team fell on Tuesday night to LMC by set scores of 20-25, 17-25, and 11-25.
"We came off of a tough weekend at the GRCC Tournament a bit banged up, and we started with one lineup tonight and were forced to change it various times due to more injuries and then had to make several position changes on the fly," said Coach Jenny Nate. "Despite those changes and circumstances, that is no excuse for the loss; all teams and coaches deal with these situations, and we have to make sure we keep our composure and embrace changes that have to be made, trust each other on the court, and stay confident in our play. LMC is a tough team, and no matter what lineup we use, we have to focus and execute in order to beat a team like that.
"I own this loss," she continued. "It's not on my team. I will make sure moving forward, once we establish the level of injuries tomorrow at practice after meeting with our trainer, that we focus on resiliency, a lineup for Thursday, and the mental toughness we will need to turn around and bounce back and play to win the next conference match. I tell our team every day, we win or we learn, and tonight we learned. I have full confidence that we can make the adjustments needed to win moving forward."
The Roadrunners are now 9-11 overall and 3-3 in conference play.
