WBB 1-1 Last Week
SMC Women's Basketball again split the week, with a close home loss to the Hocking Hawks followed by a tight win the next day vs. Macomb.
On Thursday, SMC was down 10 in the second quarter, but fought back to within two before heading to halftime behind by five. They hit a dry spell in Q3 and started Q4 down 36-46. But the Roadrunners charged back to tie the game at 48 with seven minutes left, and the Hawks went almost six minutes without scoring. SMC hit a three-pointer with 1:05 left to tie again at 56, and another with about 16 seconds left to go up one, but Hocking inbounded the ball and sprinted past the SMC defenders for a layup that ultimately gave them the win. The Roadrunners were led by freshman Trinity Dale, who went 8 of 13 from the field and 4 of 6 from deep, for a total of 21. Rayvan Rush added 10 and Kaitlynn Williams-Clark had 9.
On Friday, SMC pulled out the victory over Macomb, 48-44. The Roadrunners were behind three after Q1, but flipped the score to head into the locker room up three after clamping down on defense to prevent the Monarchs from scoring for over 8 minutes in Q2. Trailing after Q3, SMC dug deep, held Macomb to just 11 points in the fourth and earned the W. Rush had 18 points and Dale earned a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Williams-Clark added 10.
