Women's Basketball 1-1 at the Red Hawk Showcase

The SMC women's basketball team split their games at the Red Hawk Showcase in Benton Harbor over the weekend.

The Roadrunners led at halftime against Macomb Community College on Saturday, but fell behind in the second half and lost by a score of 75-66.

Cameron Thomas led the team with 20 points and Macey Laubach added 19. Naenae Kirkland had 10 points off the bench.

Game 2 on Sunday was a different story. The Roadrunners led tip to buzzer in taking down the Timberwolves of North Central Michigan by a margin of 32 points.

SMC ran out to a 34-7 lead after one quarter and didn't look back. They were againled by the 3-point shooting of Cameron Thomas (5-10) who contributed 23 points. Macey Laubach made both of her attempts from behind the arc and added 14 points with 6 assists.

SMC has a short respite before travelling to River Grove, Illinois, next weekend for games in the Dan Hull Memorial Classic at Triton College. The Roadrunners will face Moraine Valley Community College on Friday, November 11 at 5:30pm Central, then meet the host team at 3:00pm Central on Sunday.
