Trent Hansen Chooses to Run at SMC
Trent Hansen of Plainwell High School has signed his NJCAA Letter of Intent to run cross country for Coach Zac Sartori and the Roadrunners starting in Fall 2026. Hansen will also compete in track and field for SMC.
Coach Sartori said, "Trent is the second distance runner to come to us from Plainwell High School. They have had great success in the past and I'm looking forward to working with Trent. He's a strong runner and I believe he's got a lot of potential yet to improve. I'm really looking forward to the opportunity to work with him."
Hansen is the first member of the 2026 SMC Men's Cross Country recruiting class.
In Fall 2025, the Roadrunners finished the season ranked 16th in the country after competing in the NJCAA National Championships in unseasonably cold and snowy conditions at the Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Freshman Owen Saylor of Dowagiac was named an NJCAA All-American with his finish, becoming the 34th SMC Men's Cross Country runner to earn the honor, and the 69th All-American for the college across all sports.
Student-athletes interested in competing on any of SMC's nine intercollegiate teams as a Roadrunner should complete the Recruiting Form at https://smcroadrunners.com/landing/index
