Zachary Stearns Selects the Roadrunners
Zachary Stearns of Mishawaka High School has signed his NJCAA Letter of Intent to run cross country for Coach Zac Sartori and the Roadrunners.
Mishawaka Coach Justin Hembrecht said, "Zach's work ethic has led him to become a reliable member of the varsity and postseason rosters. His presence and leadership will be missed, but I am excited to watch him flourish at the next level."
Coach Sartori added, "Zach reached out to me late last fall and I was very excited to hear from another Mishawaka Caveman. I'm eager to see what he can do as a sprinter transitioning to the distance events. Zach has a lot of potential and I'm thrilled he's decided to join the Roadrunner family."
Stearns is the third runner from Mishawaka in the new era of SMC cross country, joining Bailee Shambaugh and Levi Hall on the Roadrunners.
Following a 25-year hiatus, SMC's legendary teams returned to competition in 2021. Both the men's and women's teams were nationally ranked for most of the season, each finishing fourth at the NJCAA Region XII meet in Lansing and then competing in the NJCAA Division II National Championships in Richmond, Virginia, last November.
