Brad Blackman to Play for SMC

Brad Blackman of Crane Medical Prep High School in Chicago, Illinois, has signed his NJCAA Letter of Intent and will continue his education and basketball career this fall at SMC.

Crane Prep Coach Posey said of Blackman, "Brad is a great player whose best basketball is still in front of him. He's an excellent shot blocker and a matchup nightmare on offense. What's scary is he doesn't even realize how good he can be."

SMC Head Coach Rodell Davis added, "The SMC Family is excited to add Brad to the roster for the upcoming season. He is a defensive force who led the state of Illinois in blocked shots as a junior and finished second in the state as a senior.

Offensively, Brad is a true three-level scorer who finishes at the rim with elite athleticism. The IBCA First Team All-State selection is a complete player who finished his high school career with over 1,000 points, 800 rebounds, 400 blocks, and 200 assists. Brad fits perfectly into our system and will make an immediate impact on both ends of the floor."

Blackman joins Tyshaun McPherson of Chicago; Joseph Jones of Crete, Illinois; Keithan Gilmore of West Bloomfield; Brayden Favors of Niles; Tyrese Moody and Brieland Watkins of Grand Rapids and Kenaz Jackson, Jr. and Myair Thompson, both of Kankakee, Illinois, as new players on the 2026-2027 SMC Men's Basketball squad.
