Men's Basketball Defeats LMC, Davis Drops 9 From Deep

Rodell Davis, Jr. had himself a day in the home victory over Lake Michigan College, dropping in a school-record nine 3-pointers as the Roadrunners routed the Red Hawks, 89-63.

The SMC men ran out to a 12-0 lead to start the contest, but the Red Hawks went on their own mini-run to get within four. SMC battled through that and went into halftime up 40-26.

LMC had a bit more energy coming out of the break, but could not contain Roadrunner sophomore Davis, whose nine three-pointers set another school record. Davis led all scorers with 29 points, going a sizzling 9 of 15 from deep (60%), and also grabbing 11 caroms for the double-double. Sophomore Aries Hull poured in 25, making the Red Hawks pay at the free throw line, going 13 of 16 for 81%. Hull also double-doubled with 10 rebounds. Sophomore Prince Adams was the third player in the game to double-double for the Roadrunners and had a well-rounded stat line with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks and 3 steals.

SMC moved to 13-9 overall and 2-5 in the MCCAA Western Conference with the win. The Green and Gold host the Marian Ancilla Chargers in the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse as the second pass through the West starts on Wednesday, 2/5 at 7:30pm.
