Men's Basketball Takes Down #2 Bulldogs
SMC Men's Basketball earned arguably the biggest win of their modern era by taking down the #2-ranked South Suburban Bulldogs on the road Saturday, 66-61, In doing so, the Roadrunners snapped the Bulldogs' 65-game home winning streak, which dated back to their national championship season of 2022.
The Roadrunners hung with their opponent through the first half and trailed by only 4 at the half. Down the stretch, SMC used stifling defense and hit their free throws to win going away, stunning the home crowd.
SMC was led by sophomore RJ Davis, who had 21 points and went 9-of-10 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Aries Hull hit a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, and freshman Davion Goins added 14 points. The Roadrunners played clean ball, committing only 12 turnovers and 11 personal fouls the entire 40 minutes of the win.
Next up for the 4-0 Green and Gold are the Schoolcraft Oscelots, who visit the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse at 7:30 on Wednesday, November 13.
