Vincent Rainey Selects the Roadrunners
Vincent Rainey of Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois, has signed his NJCAA Letter of Intent to continue his academic and basketball career in the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse with Coach Rodell Davis and the Roadrunners.
Coach Davis said of Rainey, "We are happy that Vincent has decided to continue his academic and athletic careers as a Roadrunner. He is a talented guard that is wired to score. He can score at all three levels, but really excels as a long-range shooter. Defensively, he can be a disruptive force capable of guarding 94 feet."
Rainey is the sixth signed member of the 2024 SMC Men's Basketball recruiting class, joining Davion Goins of Cassopolis, Damontae May of Kankakee, Illinois, Kaiden Bierhalter of Watervliet, and Javon Mason and Antwan "Chick" Callahan Jr. from Benton Harbor.
After a 26-year hiatus, the SMC's Men's Basketball Team returned to action in the newly-renovated 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse for the 2022-23 season. In their first year back, with an all-freshman team, the Roadrunners compiled a 15-11 overall record, went 6-6 in the MCCAA Western Conference and qualified for the postseason Great Lakes District A Tournament. Last season, the Roadrunners improved to 16-12 (7-5 in conference) and hosted a home playoff game in Round 1 of the Great Lakes District C Tournament.
SMC's 2024-2025 season will begin at home with the Roadrunner Classic on November 1 and 2 in the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse. Opponents and times will be announced once finalized.
