Men's Basketball Falls to Vikings

Men's Basketball Falls to Vikings

SMC seems destined to split with Glen Oaks this year, as it's now happened in three sports.

The SMC men's basketball team was up 9 points on Glen Oaks at halftime after a low-scoring defensive affair. The Roadrunners had a lead of 7 with 9 minutes to go, but again went cold from the field and could not hold it, losing 55-63 to the Vikings on Student-Athlete Recognition Day.

Mark Williams led SMC with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Sean Burress added 9, Zach Stokes put in 8, and Mikel Forrest had 13 off the bench. SMC took care of the ball much better in this game (13 turnovers vs. 16 for Glen Oaks) but shot just 34% from the field to the Vikings' 44%. Both teams had a rough day from behind the arc.

SMC looks to snap a three-game skid and earn a berth in the Great Lakes District Tournament as Rivalry Week continues Tuesday night in Benton Harbor at 7:30 versus the LMC Red Hawks.
