Men's Basketball 1-1 Last Week in Conference Action
The SMC Men's Basketball Team was .500 last week in two home contests.
On Wednesday, the Roadrunners avenged an earlier road loss to Marian Ancilla and zapped the Chargers 70-59 at the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse. Smothering defense held the visitors to just 18 points in the first half, and SMC took a 17-point lead into the locker room. Marian Ancilla charged back within nine early in the second half on some hot 3-point shooting, but the Roadrunners regrouped and kept a lead between 10 and 12 the rest of the way to secure the win. Mikel Forrest shot 64% from the field and led SMC with 18 points. Mari Nichols and Mark Williams each added 13, and Rashawn Bost had 8 off the bench.
Saturday, the Roadrunners built a 15-point lead in the second half vs. the Kellogg Bruins, but could not hold it and lost on a three-pointer by the visitors with one second remaining in the game. Mark Williams led the Roadrunners with 17 points, Nate Goins added 14 off the bench and Rashawn Bost put in 11.
