Men's Basketball Adds Two Victories, Now 4-1

The SMC men's basketball team put two in the win column last week.

On Thursday in the 1st Source Bank Fieldhouse, after a late start due to a delayed arrival by the Kennedy-King Statesmen, the Roadrunners built a 45-30 lead at the half. The visitors used an 8-2 run at the start of the 2nd half to steal the momentum and eventually cut the lead to 5, but SMC battled back for the 10-pt win, 87-77. The Roadrunners were again led by Mari Nichols with 26 and Rashawn Bost with 20. Sean Burress added 10 points and Zach Stokes pulled down 10 rebounds to go with his 6 points.

Saturday brought the Great Lakes Christian College Crusaders to the Fieldhouse. Despite some impressive shooting by the visitors, SMC pushed their record to 4-1 with a 78-58 win. Rashawn Bost led the Roadrunners with 18 points, while both Mari Nichols (14 points, 14 rebounds) and Sean Burress (17 points, 10 rebounds) had double-doubles.

Next up is CBG Preparatory at 5:30 pm on November 16 in the front half of a home doubleheader, with the men going first and the women following at 7:30 pm vs. Great Lakes Christian.
